The Top Ten

The New York Times' venerable chief music critic Anthony Tommasini has laid out what he believes to be the top 10 classical music composers of all time. His two-week project included a series of articles on the subject, in which Tommasini painstakingly examines which composers should make the list and why. The article an enjoyable read, as are the comments, which the author found to be "challenging, passionate and inspiring."

Anthony Tommasini's Top 10 Classical Composers

1) J.S. BACH
2) BEETHOVEN
3) MOZART
4) SCHUBERT
5) DEBUSSY
6) STRAVINSKY
7) BRAHMS
8) VERDI
9) WAGNER
10) BARTÓK

Do you agree with this list? If not, which composers deserve to be there; which do not? Share your opinion in the comments.
